Thanks to Stem cell & heart biologist Arun Sharma, we’ve learned that it’s OCT4: #PluripotencyDay!
One of the amazing characteristics of dental pulp stem cells is their pluripotency; their ability do differentiate into other types of human cells. Here, shared from Arun’s Twitter feed, is a collection of heart heart cells that could be differentiated from a pluripotent stem cell or an iPS (induced pluripotent stem cell). Whether the first or tenth time viewing this, it’s always incredible to see such a small collection of heart cells beating in unison!
It’s OCT4: #PluripotencyDay! OCT4 is a protein for stem cell pluripotency: the ability to turn into other cell types like these heart cells! pic.twitter.com/BWwVm2Flod
