As you can imagine, here at NDPL induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS) excite us for many reasons. If iPS cells fascinate you as well, you’ve likely come across Paul Knoepfler’s name. Perhaps you saw his TED Talk, or picked up his book Stem Cells: An Insider’s Guide. Paul does important research work as a cell biologist at UC Davis, and equally important work as a science writer and communicator on his blog, The Niche.
Recently, Paul gave an excellent talk on iPS cells at the 2017 Future of Genomic Medicine meeting, which we’ve shared below. Besides serving as a thorough overview of iPS cells, his talk gets into the CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing technology, particular challenges/solutions in the field, and the potential of making human germ cells from iPS cells. Check it out.
