2018 ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk

This past week, members of New England Cord Blood Bank, New England Cryogenic Center, and National Dental Pulp Laboratory were out walking for a great cause.  Team NECC took to Greater Boston to participate in the 2018 ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk.  ZERO uses their ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk series to raise awareness and funds to battle prostate cancer, with the goal of one day eliminating it entirely.

More than 750 people contributed to this year’s ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk, raising more than $100,000! Those funds are used to help men and their families through ZERO’s ZERO360: Comprehensive Patient Support Program. The program is free, and makes a real impact on men and families dealing with prostate cancer. Among other things, the program helps patients make decisions on treatment, access financial resources, and gain emotional support.

Cell biology scientist Matthew Wilgo rallied nearly a dozen staff alongside team captain and CEO Joe Rizza to support this wonderful cause.  The weather was perfect for the event!  NECC has been a Silver Level sponsor for three years, and plans on continued support in years to come.

“Getting out and supporting ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk is a great thing for our staff to do.  We see people every day affected by this.  It’s good to know that even if someone faces the specter of prostate cancer, NECC is there to help preserve their reproductive future.  We all love doing our part”

We’re already looking forward to the 2019 ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk. Congrats to everyone who participated with us to make 2018’s event another great success!
